Lilli's Magic Party

Soooo, the last time I posted that Lilli turned five.  That was 6 months ago! Whoops!  I want to get caught up and stay caught up on this old blog of mine - so here we go.  Bringing up old stuff...

Lilli's 5th Birthday Party - A Magic Show!
She is starting to get ideas about what she wants for her parties - and I love that.  So she came up with the idea to have a magic show and I helped.  Here are the pics!

Waiting on her friends to arrive.

Practicing before the big show!

We had a magician, Jim Stott, come and show us some tricks.  He was wonderful with Lilli and we ALL enjoyed it!

Floating on air!?!

Scarlett got a certificate for participation (all the little ones did) and she carried it around for WEEKS.

She always wanted a pinata!

Sister got to try it, too!
For anyone local, Here is the website for the magician!  Every birthday party I think about what sort of entertainment I can have.  It makes it MUCH easier on me when someone else is in charge of making everyone have a good time.  So we don't do much in terms of food or decorations these days, we just try to get the kids to laugh!

Lilli loved her Magic Show birthday party and is already planning her 6th party - which isn't that far away!

Lilli is FIVE!

Lilli turned 5 years old on April 8.  I am taking this long to post about it because I am in denial!

At 5 years old, Lilli:

*weigh 49 pounds(90th percentile)

*is 3' 9.5" tall (95th percentile)

*has dark blonde hair and brown eyes.  So brown that I cannot believe we ever thought they might be another color!

*loves all food, especially seafood.  She likes crab and lobster but also fish.  She orders tilapia regulary.

*goes to bed around 8:30 or 9 after storytime with Scarlett and her Daddy.  She sometimes says the prayers, which go "Dear Lord, thank you for this day, and thank you for all our many blessings..."

*sleeps with her B lovey and her pink/green blanket.  She has never forgotten them before bedtime.

*loves her sister and is the most patient and kind sibling.  Scarlett is really fortunate to have her and will probably make Lilli nervous and anxious for the rest of her life!

*knows all her letters and numbers

*can read the beginning reader books.  She uses her (amazing) memory or the pictures when she gets frustrated, but she will read them when you press her

*likes movies (Frozen!) and watching cartoons, although lately likes to watch shows on the Disney channel like "Jessie"

*can play games on my computer - she likes the Tick Tock Croc game

*loves to draw and is really getting good!

*can complete puzzles and likes to play games like Hungry Hippos or card games like Go Fish

*has a vast vocabulary.  The things she comes up with and the manner in which she says them are always very proper.  Much more mature than an average 5 year old!

*plays soccer and coach-pitch softball.  Daddy is her coach for both teams, her request

*loves swimming, started jumping in the pool and going under last summer

*went to the eye doctor and dentist for the first time - did great for both!

*had strep 3 times in about 2 months time.  If she gets it one more time they are sending her to the ENT.  Each time she goes to the doctor she seems fine and shocks everyone with a positive strep test!

*loves to have a job, is the best little helper!

*experienced the loss of her great-granny Margaret.  She was very close to Granny Margaret and handled the end days and funeral very well.  We didn't know how she would react.  She did cry hard one night, but seems to understand that Granny is in Heaven.

*loves her pets and any critters we can find on the farm!

*is her Daddy's girl.  She is detail oriented, takes her time at school - meaning she doesn't always finish when others do, and loves to problem solve.  She is learning to play chess and loves lego building with Jason.

*LOVES the beach, specifically Orange Beach.  She mentions it at least once a week.

*is a sweet friend - her closest friends are Audrey Grace, Austin, Elsie, Kamdyn and Bella.

All our love!
Daddy and Mommy

{The Playroom} before and after

I took some pictures of the playroom last week.  We were having family stay with us and so I actually cleaned it.  Normally it looks like a train came through.  But it is a PLAYroom and made for messes.  Plus, I can't keep every room in this giant house clean.  Who am I kidding, I don't try to keep any room clean! :o)

Here are the befores, when we bought the house:

You can see the built in shelves here.

I knew I wanted to keep the bold colors from our last playroom.  I have enough pink and purple in other parts of the house.  So I used a neutral wall color (Pismo Dunes from Benjamin Moore) and let the toys add the color.

I wanted to create an art wall for all the work they give me.  The left is chalkboard, right is corkboard.  The middle has picture hanging wire strung from side to side but I needed more clips to hang things.

This table is special because it was mine growing up.  So glad my parents kept it! I have many memories doing my own artwork upstairs in my bedroom while sitting in this thing.

These are built in to the back wall.  I thought about painting the wall behind them a bright color but instead just painted it white.  It is busy enough with all the stuff!

My mom made the pom-pom valance with this "farm life" fabric I found online.

We made this kitchen set for Lilli a few years ago.  If you want to see more about it, click here.

Artwork came from Hobby Lobby, futon circa late 1990s.

I didn't even realize the artwork had chevron like the curtains I bought months ago from West Elm.  It's like chevron central up in here.  Not intentional but it works!

Even their doll house has a golden retriever!

The playroom has a cute closet that I turned into a dress-up area.

I have plans to hang curtains in the doorway so they can come out and model their clothes.  Someday...

Sometimes the playroom has a putt-putt course and a tent in it, seen here.  But our kittens thought the tent was a litter box (true story) so it is now an outside toy.

The room is not complete but since it is so rarely cleaned up I had to share!
